Refugees can offer an important contribution to the social and economic progress of Uganda. Also, studies indicate that immigration is associated with a positive contribution to the public finances and welfare of the host community (whereby all high-skilled and low-skilled people in the society benefit) Unfortunately, evidence shows that refugees in hosting countries constantly encounter barriers to integration and that their access to education, life-long learning and employment remains limited. In order to further assist national and regional authorities, CEE provides a platform where the refugees and the local come together to discuss topics on culture and integration taking into account the following principles: non-discrimination, gender equality, common culture, empowerment and integrated approach.
